On September 8, 2016, Local 776 attended the United Mine Workers of America “Keep the Promise” Rally in Washington DC to show support for the thousands of coal miners in attendance. The rally was held on Capitol Hill to urge Congress to pass a law, which would keep the health care and pensions funded for thousands of retired coal mineworkers and their spouses. Without the passing of the Miners Protection Act, retired coal miners and their families would start to lose their health care and pensions by December of this year. Attending for Local 776 were: Business Agent Eddie Sutton, Organizer Mark Cicak, Member Rich Stover, and Steward Andy Barnes.
